Summary: Becoming lovers with Franziska happened so quickly, but Adrian still can't bring herself to open up completely.

Any, Any, Sharing secrets was more terrifying than any touch could be.

She'd clung to Franziska von Karma in a moment of fear and weakness, but once the nightmare was over she'd pushed everything aside and thrown herself into the new, cheerful Adrian Andrews. Franziska barely batted an eyelash, and the two became lovers.

But every now and then, the old Adrian would threaten to resurface, and so would the memories of Celeste. Everything Celeste taught her, how she'd felt closer to the woman than even her own family, the devastation at learning of her suicide, Adrian's own attempt to join her in death.

During these moments, she'd smile brightly and hold tightly to Franziska, burying herself in heated kisses and near-desperate lovemaking. When the nightmares came she would sneak into the bathroom and splash her face with water until the tears stopped threatening to fall.

You really haven't changed, have you, Adrian Andrews. Still clinging to the first woman who shows you a little affection.

One night, Franziska caught her. Adrian, in a haze of fear and sleep, forgot she was dealing with a prosecuting prodigy and tried to lie her way out of it.

"I don't think so." There was an unusual tenderness in Franziska's trademark harsh gaze as she pulled Adrian back under the covers, holding her so tightly she could barely breathe. "Tell me."

"T-there's nothing to tell." Lies, a voice in her head scolded, you've been with her for six months and she still doesn't know. Mr. Wright and Mr. Edgeworth know your little secret, but the woman who shares your bed doesn't. You're such a coward.

Of course she was. It was painful enough when Mr. Edgeworth forced her to reveal that secret to the court, and even after he apologized for causing her pain all he'd done was slap a bandage on a stab wound.

It wasn't even as though Franziska didn't care for her. Sometimes it would be easier if she didn't, if their relationship was about sex and nothing else. The last person she'd ever felt so comfortable confiding in was Celeste, and Celeste was gone.

And it still hurts. I'm so happy with Franziska, but Celeste...God, even now thinking about her...

She felt fingertips on her cheek, brushing away the tears she hadn't been aware were falling, and slowly lifted her gaze to Franziska's unusually soft one.

"Please. Adrian...I've never cared about anyone as much as you. If there's even one way I can help you, please..."

Adrian swallowed, rubbed her eyes, and nodded.

"I was nineteen when I met Celeste Inpax," she began, and as she spoke, Franziska nodded and listened. It hurt, it was terrifying, but with every word she spoke she felt more inside her begin to lift.

I clung to her because she was nice to me, doesn't have to be built on just that.

Franziska listened. Adrian trusted.
